Museums

Noah had a field trip all day to the zoo one day.

So Gage and I went to The National Museum of Singapore.

And met Dave for lunch.

It was nice to have Gage to myself all day. To cuddle his cute cheeks and chase him through the grass.

We strolled through and learned about Singapore's history, about the origins of some of the local food, and saw an exhibit of 19th century Singapore landscape paintings. Gorgeous. It's amazing what this country has gone through in the last 100 years. From 3rd world fishing to 1st world economy.

In the Antwerp exhibit, Gage puzzled with me over the modern art and oohed and aahhed with me over the original Rubens...

...actually, realistically, a museum with a 2 year old? He lasted for about 30 minutes in the stroller with me showing him colorful things then I let him watch Wonder Pets on my IPod.

But Dave was a much better date.

The Singapore Art Museum has free admission Friday nights, so we tagged along after a British tour guide and saw a collection from Southeast Asian artists.

We have officially hired a babysitter every Friday night. Its a whole new world. We have a whole list of things to do and see. Including finishing my own dinner and having adult conversations. :) Our babysitter is the sweetest Singaporean lady you ever did meet. She's in her 50s and speaks English and Malay. Noah's already asking her to teach him how to count.

That's awesome! We have GOT to get a regular date night, too, because there are so many things we want to do and see and not drag two little kids along!

I was really wondering there for a while how in the world you got Gage to go to and enjoy a museum. You're a genius!

When I was reading about the museum I kept thinking, "what is wrong with me and Tessa - she would never go for that?" Ahhh...we love Wonder Pets too!

Glad to hear you are getting out - it makes a world of difference, doesn't it? Love you guys.

That sounds awesome. One on one time with Gage must be so nice. I have loved my afternoons with Aaron since Alex has started school. I am so thrilled for you to have a regular date night. YAY.

Date night is the best! Our babysitter turned 16 wich means we are in the business of looking for a new sitter. Or a substitue sitter.

"Wonder Pets, Wonder Pets, We're on our way. To help a baby Dinosaur and save the day. We're NOT too big and we're NOT to tough, but when we work together we've got the right stuff. GO WONDER PETS...YEA!!!"

As soon as I saw you write that...I started singing that song in my head! But it has good lessons...

That's wonderful! Once we find a regular babysitter we will have to go out on a double date. You'll have to email me more about the service you used and price, etc. I was at first reading it amazed Gage lasted so long at the museum.
