Buddha's Birthday

Vesak Day was a couple weeks ago.  Its the day Buddhists celebrate the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautama Buddha. It's celebrated differently in every country. In Singapore, you get a couple days off from school and everyone flocks to the Buddhist temples.

We went to our little neighborhood temple to check it out. Next year, I'd like to go to one of the bigger monasteries to see the candle processions.

Inside the temples there is a ceremony, the people then pray, offer gifts, light candles and incense.

There was even a lion dance.

Here's Noah in the tent outside where they had a chanting ceremony, monks were blessing people and food was served.

The washing of the baby Buddha.

And here's Noah again, taking a ice cold Milo break away from the crowd.
