MUMBAI laundry and a vegetable market

Monday chores - grocery shopping and laundry. These two things look very different on the streets of Mumbai.

One afternoon we took a walk from our hotel just to see what was around. When we saw something interesting we turned. We ended up at a vegetable market. Watching people shop for their produce - a Monday chore.

Can you name all these veggies?

Another day we took a taxi to a dhobi ghat (clothes washing place). Another Monday chore. There are a bunch of these ghats around the city. It was like a huge outdoor laundromat. Laundry from homes and small hotels and restaurants are cleaned here by hand in open air troughs. They've got a system so nothing gets lost. And the whole place smelled heavenly like uh... soap and clean laundry.

Our taxi driver thought seeing this janitor's shirt was hilarious. Clean up! Hahaha.

The clothes were hung to dry out on the roofs.
