Thanksgiving

We started our Thanksgiving in the Singapore style. With a BBQ and swim! We got together with about 10 families who live here on the East Coast and around.  It was wonderful and we feel so grateful to have this family away from home. I wish I would have taken a picture of the big group gathered around the Larsen's pool.

Our plates were full of Patrick's bbqed turkey, Sarah's rolls, Janna's pumpkin pie, Natasha's pavlova, Grandma Brown's apple pie of course, and lots of other good food.

The kids had a blast in the pool.

Gage and Cache together is like watching a kindergarten version of SNL. They are too funny. Especially if you think potty jokes and funny noises are hilarious.

We had another feast on Thanksgiving Day. The boys had school and Dave went to work on that Thursday but we still managed to pull off a thankful feast. Noah made the menu. (Although I took stuffing off the menu since neither Noah nor Gage could tell me what it was.) We had another helping of Grandma's apple pie. Gelly joined us. Gage sang Uncle Tristan's turkey song. We were complete.

Having Thanksgiving so soon after typhoon Haiyan, I couldn't stop thinking about the Philippines and all those displaced, frightened, hungry people. I feel so grateful to be living in a safe place. To have a home. To have a family. To have clean water. Enough to eat. I want to remember that gratitude more and think about my first world problems less.

Happy Thanksgiving!
