Wow, what a neat day I had in Singapore! I took a long walk through the jungle and on my walk I saw lots of monkeys! They jumped from tree to tree. It was lots of fun to watch.
In the afternoon I went to a bird park and saw lots and lots of birds. There were colorful birds--I took some pictures for you. I also saw some owls who lived in a really dark building. They were really neat.
I hope you had a great day and that you are really nice to your mom and little brother.
Sleep well.
Love,
Dad

We've been able to talk to David several times a day. He calls us over the internet using Skype. The kids love it. So do I. And we've also been emailing...a lot.
So far he has interviewed at 1 of 3 universities and it's going well. He is enjoying the people he's meeting and the research they're discussing. He had a lot of free time over the weekend to see the amazing sites of Singapore.
He hiked through the Bukit Timah nature reserve (um...the jungle) and did the tree top walk. I was very jealous. This was something I really wanted to do but knew we wouldn't have time. When he was done he went to a grocery store on the top floor of a mall - the biggest, most beautiful, most air conditioned mall he'd ever seen. What a contrast.
He says the food is amazing (he stops to buy fresh squeezed fruit every time he sees the juice stand), the weather warm, and his favorite has been Little India. A section of town with Indian shops, homes, a beautiful temple and festivities.
He has more interviews tomorrow.
Again, wish him well.

Wow and AWESOME...the two words that came out of my mouth as I was watching/reading this blog post. What a BEATUIFUL place with fabulous weather and cool stuff to do. Enjoy your time over there because it sure beats the weather we're having here.
We love you guys and wish you both a safe, fun, adventurous, and productive trip.
Can't wait to see more pics of this fun adventure!
My brother collects sand from beaches all over the world. If you remember ... could you scoop a little baggie full from a Singapore beach (and label it with the beaches name) for me?? He'd be super thrilled to have it.
See you when you get back.
Good Luck to you all!
Hello and so glad to have found your blog! I am glad Dave is visiting some of the great attractions here in Singapore-that waterfall is actually the tallest man-made waterfall in the world (or is it Asia?) Good luck on your move, and glad you're finding my blog helpful :)
