March is such a glorious month. March means the start of spring, general conference on the way, the snow is starting to melt, and of course Dave*Fest, just to name a few. But the best thing about March is THE MADNESS!!! I love NCAA hoops and this year has been a little more special.
I spent Friday night with two good friends in Detroit watching a double header, including the Davidson upset of Wisconsin in the Midwestern regionals. I loved it! We were sitting at the 50-yard line (translation: midcourt), albeit in the upper bowl.
Stephen Curry was on fire (I under-predicted his 33 points by one) and it was an unusual joy to cheer against the Big Ten. Usually this would be a no-no, and a no-brainer, but I'm a sucker for the underdog and Curry looked like him, cape flying in the wind as he slashed, jumped, and dumped the threes. It was amazing.
I don't even mind that I paid $7 for nachos and $6 for a smoothie. Some things you can't put a price on. Oh, and did I mention that LeBron was there? He was cheering on Curry too . And when LBJ was on the big screen the Pistoncentric crowd booed the potential MVP-to-be. Beautiful. Gotta love the motorcity sports fans.
So, how's life in Michigan, you ask? Fantastic--especially when lived in Madness!
Oh, and to add insult to injury, I saw some of those "Witness" Ts around the stadium (usually associated with witnessing LeBron's greatness). I thought they for the W in Wisconsin, but it turns out I was wrong. They were for the Wildcats. Not so ironic, then, that The King stood up to praise the Badger's foe. Poor Wisconsin. I guess they'll have to take solace in another Big Ten championship. As for Davidson, they're still dancing. And still living the dream. And I am too. Thanks Underdog!

I love March Madness.. I don't really follow much basketball but I love filling out the brackets and rooting for different teams.. even though I'm losing in my bracket!
You spent how much on nachos?! We're so going to have to talk about this... :) I'm so glad you had a blast.
i'm pretty jealous here...i always look forward to march, so much so that when i found out my last baby was due the week of the acc championship, i was concerned that i would miss games. i've really got my priorities straight right? i'm glad to report that i didn't miss any last year and this year i kinda wish i didn't watch my team (duke) play their tournament games. :(
