"I am not a born mother but I do believe that I was born, in part, to be a mother."

Today is a good mommy day. We've kept busy and happy. Fingerpainting, playing with buckets of snow, making tents, racing race cars, eating snow ice cream, wiggling, reading stories, going and going. Noah's giggles and big wondering eyes make it easy today. And I love watching Gage's big cheeks fold into his toothless grin. I LOVE THESE BOYS.

Here are some projects I'm working on little bits at a time on this snow day.

This is going to be a beautiful notebook. I need this notebook dedicated to my scripture study. If I have a pretty place to write down what I'm learning, won't I learn more?
Noah's baby book. And this fabulous apron. Idea from Ms. Vicki at the ever cute Kean's Store in Mason. It's a vinyl print. I'm just cutting it out and sewing ribbon on (and crossing my fingers until its done.)

Yes, today is a good mommy day. Pockets of time to think about stuff like this. Other days are not so easy. I get bugged that my clean laundry is still piled in wicker. I get antsy to "accomplish" something...anything...just to complete a task. I have those days where its like I’m putting my head under water and holding my breath until the clock finally clicks to 7:30pm and I can get these boys in bed and the day is over. We made it. Or I’m gritting my teeth until the clock ticks to 2:00pm and they’ll take a nap. Finally I can relax my jaw, use the bathroom by myself or make a phone call.

On those frowny days I need some inspiration. One of my projects right now is putting together my Inspiration Board. I want words, pictures, quotes, memories, motivation, encouragement, enthusiasm, purpose, reminders right there on my wall for me to breathe in when I need it. So here it is with a fresh coat of paint, one of my favorite baby Noah pictures and my Lovely Lindsay inspired thumb tacks ready for some inspiration.....

So, my friends, what keeps you going?? What inspires you?

Send me your inspiration.

I need it.

I love seeing what projects you have going on and also I am impressed at how many things you do with your kids. Fingerpainting?!! That's amazing. I love the thumbtacks and books you're making. Inspiration? I'd have to copy Dave: you.

oh how i loved this post!! you are my mommy inspiration. i have told you many times that i wish we lived close so that i could tag along on all the adventures you have with your boys. i am also requesting one of those pretty notebooks. you get five stars for working on noah's baby book. that's on my list of "to-do someday." i can't wait to see the finished apron and your inspiration board when it is full of pretty things. i love to search "inspiration boards" on flickr. tons of cool ideas.
for my inspiration? i think this week it will be at the library. or barnes and nobles. i'll gather up a stack of books and let luc play trains while i drowned myself in pretty pictures.

Ah...inspiration. Wish I had some. In fact, today is one of the rare days that I actually did play with Will, but he would occupy ALL of my time if I let him. But my life doesn't revolve around them anymore because of school, and many days, I wish it still did.

I have a quote that I read every time the phone rings because it is by the phone. Here it is...
"Do not be deceived in your quest to find happiness and an identity of your own. Entreating voices may tell you that what you have seen your mothers and grandmothers do is old-fashioned, unchallenging, boring, and drudgery. It may have been old-fashioned and perhaps routine; at times it was drudgery. But your mothers and grandmothers have sung a song that expressed the highest love and the noblest of womanly feelings. They have been our nurturers and our teachers. They have sanctified the work, transforming drudgery into the noblest enterprises. Homemaking is whatever you make of it. Every day brings satisfaction along with some work which may be frustrating, routine, and unchallenging. But it is the same in the law office, the dispensary, the laboratory, or the store. There is, however, no more important job than homemaking. As C. S. Lewis said, “A housewife’s work … is the one for which all others exist.

I hope it helps. It helps me.

So, I have to admit that some days the only thing that makes me not sit and read a book all day is the thought of telling my husband what I did all day. Sometimes though, when I make myself sound busy and productive enough he says, why don't you just go read in the bath while I do the dishes...I love those days.

Thank you Mary! I love that C.S. Lewis quote at the end too. Just what I need.

It was so good to talk to you yesterday even if it was for just a few moments! I'm impressed with all of your projects and I think creating a inspiration board is a great idea I think I will need to do that. You also inspired me to get a spiritual journal to write down my thoughts! This week I'm inspired by runners cause I need to keep running and I see those peeps running out in the cold and that inspires me!
